The Company & Your Role:

As our Senior Tire Compound Engineer/Chemist, you will be working for an award-winning, global tire manufacturer that consistently rates in the Top 10 of our industry. 

You'll be involved in some pretty important work, so you must be an engineer/chemist who is dynamic and well versed on the most current technologies and upcoming industry trends. We need someone in this role who has a strong familiarity with the manufacturing plant process, who can get involved in competitive intelligence, and can provide input into our OE and RE product planning process.

Some of the expectations and tasks we have for you in this role will include:

  • The initiation and completion of laboratory development studies on tire compounds.

  • The creation of summaries for each lab study which includes your recommendations and conclusions.

  • The ability to use adjustment history to find and fix any product deficiencies and determine product failure mechanisms.

  • Giving your guidance and input to the purchasing department and suppliers on purchasing new raw materials.

  • The ability to collaborate with our Asia R&D team both remotely, and in person.

  • The ability to maintain contact with and provide tech support to the sales team.

  • Participation in trade shows and other industry meetings.

  • The ability to establish clear plans and set future goals for development.

  • The ability to prioritize according to urgency.

Background Profile:

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry

  • Ability to work with cross-functional and international teams

  • Experience with polymers, fillers and reinforcements

  • Proficient in the statistical design of experiments

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills

  • Domestic and international travel

  • Knowledge of plant-related compound and extrusion processes

  • Ability to work directly with plant compound specialists

  • 10 – 20 years of experience in compound development
