This college town has all the amenities of a big town, including big box stores, shopping malls, and craft beer, but it manages to retain some of the old southern charm with its Whirlygig Park, public rose gardens, and even a baseball museum!

Just 30 minutes east of the big city of Raleigh, this town of about a population of 50,000 is loaded with beautiful public parks, bike trails, bird watching, and nature trails, along with fishing, boating, and children’s playgrounds at Lake Wilson Reservoir.
